Susan grew up in Wheaton, Illinois, and graduated from California State San Bernardino with a BS in Accounting in 1989. When she and her husband were coming close to being empty nesters an Accounting Position came open at Pelican Isle. The management were very supportive of Susan's career development in the Accounting Field. Susan then joined Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals in 2014, an organization for Hospitality Accountants with members who are experts in their fields. Susan credits the guidance from past and present managers with helping her become the professional she is today. Susan enjoys fishing in the summer with family, crocheting, baking and decorating cupcakes. She and her husband have been married for 27 years this December, with 3 sons and 3 grandsons.

Susan’s education and affiliation with Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals HFTP) has provided her with a solid knowledge of accounting and GAAP. Along with her Bachelor of Science in Business where she majored in Accounting and through HFTP, she attends monthly educational meetings with peers in the club industry, including mostly Controller’s, but also some Assistant Controller’s. As part of HFTP, she earned the “Certified Hospitality Accountant Executive (CHAE)” designation. This is a very comprehensive accounting examination that shows that an individual knows not only GAAP, but knowledgeable about hospitality accounting.
